About Fluxus a Go-Go

Fluxus a Go-Go a unique monthly event gratefully dedicated to outsider art and all genres of electronic music and all music in general. It is held at the Outlaw Conduit Gallery Pod which is in the beautiful sculpture gardens of the original Art City in Ventura, Ca.

197 Dubbers Street

The art is inside the Outlaw Conduit gallery pod and the music is outside under the stars.

Fluxus is a 21 and older event, with a 100 person capacity due to the small size of the gallery. Be sure to get there early, because once we reach capacity, we won’t be able to let any else in until people leave for the night. Doors open at 8:30 pm – Bands start around 9:00 – DJ’s start at 11:00 – Gate closes at 11:30 – Event ends around 1:00am.

Parking is very limited, so we ask if you choose to drive, and park in the surrounding neighborhood, please be quite and respectful to our neighbors. Art City is right next to the bike path so we do encourage people to ride their bikes or walk when possible, and you will be able to park your bicycles inside the gates of Art City.

This is an event for artists, art lovers, and fans of modern music. After the bands perform, fans of electronic music can shake their bones to Dj’s in an open air environment until closing. Be sure to dress for outdoors, it can get a bit chilly, and costumes are always welcome if you want to let your freak flag fly.

In the event of rain bring umbrellas and your warmest clothes and we will have the music and dancing under an inclosed area to keep you dry.

So come see the art, hear the bands, watch the videos, dance, and have some fun at

Fluxus a Go-Go

Ventura, California (February 10, 2011) – Outlaw Conduit is proud to announce the opening of the Outlaw Conduit Gallery Pod and the premier of Fluxus a Go-Go. A monthly event dedicated to outsider art and electronic music. This event will take place on Saturday, February 26th, 2011. From 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Outlaw Conduit Gallery Pod is located in the beautiful sculpture gardens at Art City, 197 Dubbers Street, Ventura, Ca.

Painting by Luke McAuliffe

This first installment of Fluxus a Go-Go will be showing the art work of local artist Luke McAuliffe, inside the Gallery Pod. Luke’s paintings have been featured in two of Ventura’s artwalks. Outside, the gallery will feature 2 live musical performances, also by local artists. The first performance begins around 8:30p.m. and will feature local electronic legend, O. Powers.

O.Powers

O. Powers (b. 1952) developed a life-long interest in electronic music upon hearing pioneering works by Stockhausen, Varèse, and the all-electronic soundtrack to Forbidden Planet, created by Louis and Bebe Barron in 1955–56. He received degrees from UCSD, CSUN, and BSU, pursuing composition with ever-developing technology, and now works almost entirely on computer.  But the fifties and sixties live on as well in his music, for which purpose he utilizes a theremin, the instrument with antennas that is
played without physical contact. He invites the listener to journey to unknown planets with his sound-pieces. In addition to performing live electronic music, Dr. Powers has been an instructor in the Ventura College Music Department since 1980. more info at www.messier81.com

Send My Regards, performing at Grady's Record Refuge in 2008

The second live performance begins around 9:45 p.m. and will feature the group Send My Regards. From local label Paper Cuts Records, this avant-garde noise ambient duo will perform live improvised electronics. Justin Cassidy’s and Patrick Rodriguez’s electro-experimental improvisations overlap minimalist substratum drones underneath throbbing oscillations.  info at www.papercutsrecords.com

After the live music Fluxus House DJ Dept. McSmoss will play electro acid house music until closing.
